Overall Integrative Narrative
The Study of the Spanish language over the past five years has had a deep impact on what I have become as a person, I am no longer just a student who goes to class every day in order to get a grade, I have truly gained an interest in the Spanish language and culture and have made it my mission in life to become more culturally relative and understand all that i can about the world and social groups throughout it. Studying grammar in the early years of my education i found to be the most difficult portion, each day was routine and difficult to find how to manage my time properly, i didn't have much interest in the Spanish language in high school, but when i started to study it at Diablo Valley College i became much more interested in the culture. As time went on, and my interest in the culture grew more and more i decided that I would enjoy going for a degree in the Spanish language and Culture. the grammar courses I always found were my most difficult classes, but i was able to overcome them with hard work. the classes that revolved around cultural aspects were my favorites. i easily succeeded in this classes, and enjoyed delving into the deep culture.
Studying Spanish has drastically changed me as a person, I can see when i started the Spanish program at CSUMB my worldview was very narrow and the only future career i could see myself achieving was something inside the United States. After the program my worldview has become exceptionally broad, I can understand the difficulties and achievements of other cultures around the world. When i search for a career now, my horizons are limitless, I can work anywhere in the world of my choosing without fear, my study abroad program showed me that I am capable of living in other parts of the world for extensive periods of time.
I want to give thanks to my professors at CSUMB for helping me become more culturally relative and more open minded to the world, the Spanish language that I have worked hard to achieve will be useful to me throughout my life, and will be a permanent characteristic of mine.
