MLO 3
The student develops a reasonable understanding of the ways of thinking (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, values, philosophies), the behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions) and the cultural products – both tangible and intangible (for example, art, history, literature, music) — of Hispanic cultures.
MLO 3 was met through several courses and the study abroad program that helped me develop an understanding of the Spanish culture. This MLO was completed through various literature courses that delved into the social issues and idiosyncrasies through literature consisting of novels, short stories, poetry and entire textbooks. This MLO was also met through history classes such as History and Politics of Mexico which covered topics such as social reforms, governmental issues, Economic troubles, and many other factors that helped to shape Mexico. A unique portion to my studies of the Spanish culture was my time spent studying abroad in Alicante Spain. While there I gained an understanding of the ways of thinking and behavioral practices of Spaniards. Things in Spain that i had to grow accustomed to was often things that one may not think about, such as the time of day that you do things, what you eat, when you eat, where you eat, where you socialize, how classes are conducted, and the learning styles that are implemented. Ideas and beliefs i also had to learn and understand while in spain, many of them I still value today while in the United States.
